Program of scientific internships in laboratories around the world – 2027
The Shakhmardan Yessenov Foundation announces its annual competition offering 10 fellowships to bachelor's degree, master’s students, interns, and current research officers for research internships at leading scientific and research laboratories around the world for up to 90 consecutive days.
IF YOU:
- are a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan and reside in the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- are a student at a Kazakhstani higher education institution or current research officer;
- study or work in one of the following areas: natural sciences, mathematics and statistics; information and communication technologies; engineering, manufacturing and construction industries; healthcare;
- have a GPA of 3.3 or higher;
- have English language proficiency of at least B2;
- have achievements in science olympiads and competitions and clear interest in a specific scientific field;
- are interested in pursuing a PhD degree and continuing scientific activities in Kazakhstan —
you have the opportunity to RECEIVE A FELLOWSHIP AND COMPLETE SCIENTIFIC INTERNSHIP IN 2027!
To participate in the competition, it is required to complete the online application on the Foundation’s website and submit the required documents from October 5 through November 4, 2026, inclusive.
The deadline for applications is November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Astana time (GMT+5).
Required documents:
- ID scan;
- An essay on the topic of “The research I would like to conduct”. The essay should contain answers to the following questions: what research experience do you have? how do you envision the research you would like to conduct and what can be done to accomplish it?
- Transcript with grades for all semesters of study;
- Bachelor’s degree diploma with grades (for master’s students and research officers) or a diploma from the last place of study (no more than 1 document);
- CV.
Additional documents:
- Research certificates (no more than 3);
- Certificates for community commitment and volunteering (no more than 2);
- Publications (no more than 2);
- Reference letter from a research adviser, vice-rector or rector of the university (no more than 1 document).
The application and essay can be filled out in Kazakh, Russian or English. Certificates, diplomas, recommendations and other documents are accepted in the source language.
