Schools and departments

Since 2009, the center has been providing highly specialized medical care for the population (hip and knee arthroplasty). To date, more than 10,000 endoprosthesis surgeries have been performed. The Department of Pediatric Traumatology and Orthopedics specializes in the treatment of injuries of the musculoskeletal system and congenital orthopedic pathology in children. Osteosynthesis of long tubular bones with elastic titanium nails has been introduced into the practice of the department and is actively used, as well as surgical treatment of congenital hip dislocation with pelvic osteotomy and acetabuloplasty is carried out in the department. The Burn Injury Department treats patients with both acute thermal injury and subsequently with reconstructive surgery. In 2012, to improve the clinical work of the department's staff, the university installed an arthroscopic installation by Karl Storz. Arthroscopic plastic surgery of the anterior cruciate ligament has been introduced and is widely used. Arthroscopy of the shoulder joint is performed. The department deals with the problems of revision arthroplasty

The department has a SNO. Every year, students participate with reports and publish the results of scientific research at international conferences. Residents and doctoral students are trained.

History

• The Department of Traumatology was established in 1958. The organizer and the first head of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and VPH until 1987 was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor H.J. Makazhanov.
• Hafiz Zhanabayevich Makazhanov is a prominent Soviet and Kazakh trauma surgeon, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, participant in the Great Patriotic War. In 1958, he organized the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and VPH on the basis of KSMU and was its permanent head until 1987. For a long time he was the chief surgeon of the Karaganda regional Health Department (1949 to 1970), was one of the organizers of the orthopedic and traumatology service of the republic.
• From 1988 to 1999, the department was headed by PhD, Professor K.S. Sadyrbayev. Karibai Sadyrbayevich Sadyrbayev is an assistant of the department, since 1965 – professor of the department. He is the author of 120 scientific papers, 5 inventions, 16 innovation proposals. The author of two textbooks, 10 educational and methodological recommendations.
• From 1999 to 2018, the head of the department was PhD, Associate Professor T.M.Abiev. Tuyak Momynovich Abiev has worked as an assistant at the department since 1976. Associate Professor of the Department since 1991. He is the author of more than 60 publications. He is the author of 3 inventions and 7 innovation proposals

Department of Faculty Surgery.

The department of Faculty Surgery is actively working in three directions: educational and methodological training of 4th and 5th year students and training of interns, residents; research activities - scientific projects together with the Department of Microbiology; clinical work - the participation of assistants in the treatment process at the clinical bases of the OMC and GB No. 1.

He collaborates with the Institute of Surgery named after acad. Petrovsky B.V., Russian Federation, Moscow, the First Moscow Medical University named after Sechenov.

The teaching staff is represented by 10 employees, 1 office manager. Employees with an academic degree make up 60%, one is a Master of Medicine.

The staff of the department participates in the work of congresses, plenums, conferences, symposiums. MD. Professor Shakeev K.T. is the head of the Society of Surgeons of the Karaganda region, which is part of the Kazakh Society of Surgeons.

History

• The Department of Faculty Surgery was founded in 1951. The first head was Professor A.I. Saenko. MD, Professor P.P. Khokhlov headed the department from September 1952 to November 1953. He was a prominent scientist, teacher, wonderful surgeon, participant in the Great Patriotic War, for the first time in the USSR (1952) he proposed to manufacture and apply in surgical practice transplants from the parietal peritoneum of cattle, preserved in a chloramine solution, later this plastic material was widely used in various fields of surgery. Under the guidance of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor P.P. Khokhlov has defended more than 10 PhD theses
• From 1953 to 1962, the department was headed by a student of academician S.I. Spasokukotsky, MD, Professor D.L. Tsyrlina. A prominent scientist, she has put a lot of effort into strengthening the clinical base and the growth of scientific staff. Her research focuses on the treatment of purulent lung diseases, burns and wounds. During the period of work at the department, 4 PhD theses were defended under her leadership
• The department was one of the first to organize a surgical student scientific circle at the Institute. The active participants of the SNO were: Kuzhukeev E.S. future Candidate of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Stepnitskaya M.S. Excellent student of Healthcare, Head.ENT department of the Dzhambul Regional Hospital, Slivnykh Ph.D., head of the Department of the Karaganda Metallurgical Combine, Ryspekov R. surgeon of the Shetskaya district Hospital, Em A. Ph.D., Associate Professor, Moon N.V. and Madykenov O.M. –Doctors of Medical Sciences, professors, head of departments
• From 1962 to 1971, the Department of General Surgery was headed by Ph.D., Associate Professor, participant of the Great Patriotic War Ya.M.Litvak, who dealt with the problem of surgical treatment of portal hypertension. Ya.M.Litvak prepared 2 candidates of medical sciences and MD, Professor O.M.Madykenov.
• In 1971, O.M.Madykenov, one of the first graduates of the first set of the Institute, by that time Ph.D., associate professor, was elected head of the department. The clinical base of the department grew and expanded, which grew from 50 to 200 beds, and the number of students at the department increased from 91 to 900-1000. The staff of teachers has grown from 3 people to 25. Of these, the vast majority were already graduates of our institute (Madykenov O.M., Abzaliev B.A., Borisov A.I., Smirnov V.N., Karazhigitov M.F., Pushpakov A.P., Samokhin A.Ya., Alikov V.B., Nemynov P., Donchenko V.S., Mitryaev V.S., Ivanov V.M., Ospanov T.O., Baimyshev E.S., Iskakov S.I., Bychkov V.M., Kotlyarov A.V. and many others). Together with them, associate professors worked fruitfully at the department: Legkopudova A.I., Birgin S.H., assistants: Serditykh L.F., Ablavskaya E.M., Smagulov A.S., Berko D.G., who came from Almaty, Ukraine and earned great respect at the Institute with their high medical and pedagogical qualifications
• At various times, the department worked and defended dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences: B.A. Abzaliev, A.I. Borisov, V.S. Donchenko, A.I. Legkopudova, S.H. Birgin, T.O. Ospanov, A.S. Smagulov, A.V. Kotlyarov, D.G. Berko, G.R. Rustemova, etc. Working as assistants and associate professors of the department, they defended their doctoral dissertations and became professors O.M. Madykenov, S.H. Birgin, E.S. Baymyshev.
• While working at the department, the following doctoral dissertations were defended: Madykenov O.M., Birgin S.H., Baymyshev E.S.; candidate dissertations: Legkopudova A.I., Smagulov A.S., Abzaliev B.A., Donchenko V.S., Nemynov P., Ospanov T.O., Rustemova G., Berko D.T., etc. In total, until 1990, the staff of the department defended 3 doctoral and 10 PhD theses, published more than 600 scientific articles, published 25 teaching aids, monographs.
• From 1995 to 1998, the department was stationed at the KSMU clinic, the staff of the department carried out management, performed all types of medical work. Ph.D., Associate Professor V.I. Koloskov headed the surgical service, Ph.D., Associate Professor B.A. Abzaliev worked as head of the surgical department, Ph.D., Associate Professor A.V. Kotlyarov headed the department of surgical infection.
• Associate professor T.O. Ospanov worked successfully in the surgical departments of the clinic, assistants – E.V. Oblavskaya, V.N. Smirnov, S.Sh. Primbekov, B.A. Tusuphanov, S.V. Batpaev, etc. Due to the unification of various related departments and their placement on the same base, since the 1998 academic year, the team has received a new name: "Department of General Surgery with courses in Anesthesiology and Intensive care, urology, otorhinolaryngology."
• From September 1998 to 2001, the department was headed by an experienced organizer and a qualified surgeon, a graduate of KSMU, who for many years was the chief surgeon of the regional health department, associate professor M.E. Abeuov. Under his leadership, the department strengthened the material and technical base; there was a relocation to the COMLDO.
• From 2003 to 2010, the department was headed by an experienced organizer and qualified surgeon, graduate of KSMU, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor O.N. Yerzhanov
• С 2010 г. по 2015 кафедру возглавлял опытный организатор и квалифицированный хирург, выпускник КГМА, доктор медицинских наук, профессор Шакеев К.Т. Под его руководством защищена кандидатская диссертация Жанасовой М.М., в настоящий момент под руководством профессора Шакеева К.Т. выполняется научно-исследовательская работа на соискание научной степени доктора медицины PhD Абрамовым Г.
• С 2015 г. по 2017 г. руководителем кафедры являлся д.м.н., профессор Телеуов М.К. С 2019 г. возглавлял Западно-Казахстанский государственный медицинский университет имени Марата Оспанова
• С 2017 г по 2018 г. кафедру возглавлял доктор медицинских наук, профессор Шакеев К.Т.
• С 2018 – 2019 г. отмечено объединение кафедр хирургических болезней №1 и детской хирургии заведовал кафедрой доктор медицинских наук, профессор Аскаров М.С.
